Disability provides you with a way to protect your income in the event you were to be medically unable to work due to a qualified injury or illness. Short Term Disability benefits begin on day 15 and can pay up to 24 weeks. Long Term Disability benefits begin after 180 days from the injury/illness and can be payable through Social Security Retirement Age (if not released to work sooner). One Lump Sum Disability benefits begin after 180 days when you are expected to be totally disabled for at least 24 months and are paid out as one lump sum payment.
